Phase I – Preparation (Optional)

The phase I of the HCG diet is strictly optional and includes all the preparatory things you should do to ensure your body and mind are in the best possible state prior to beginning the HCG diet phase II.

Not taking on board any elements of phase I will not hamper your chances of achieving success on phase II of the HCG diet—you will still lose weight—but by trying as many of the suggested activities on phase I as possible, you are much more likely to stay at your optimum weight once you have completed the HCG diet.

  1. Fat people usually do not drink enough water, so make sure you drink 6-8 glasses of water per day.
  2. Walking is excellent exercise, so try and include one hour’s steady walking exercise per day. It will boost your metabolism and tone your muscles. Walking outside is preferable (and more fun!), but as a last resort, you can walk on a treadmill.
  3. Extra Virgin Raw Coconut Oil is ideal for cooking purposes as it improves digestion and stimulates the metabolism. Use up to two teaspoons per day.
  4. Colonic irrigation can help to flush out toxins and fecal matter from the colon, which will dramatically improve your overall feelings of health and wellbeing. However, always use a licensed colon therapist.
  5. Colon cleansing products can also correct hormonal imbalances and help your digestive system function better.
  6. They say ‘an apple a day keeps the doctor away’ so include two organic apples in your daily diet. Apples help to regulate blood sugar levels and prevent food cravings.
  7. Grapefruit contain powerful fat burning enzymes. They also reduce food cravings, cleanse toxins from the body, and regulate blood sugar levels.
  8. Raw Organic Apple Cider Vinegar is a powerful metabolic stimulant and cleanser.
  9. Take a product to eliminate any potential candida yeast infection, as this is a major contributory cause of allergies, constipation, food cravings, indigestion, bloating, flatulence, fatigue, and food cravings.
  10. Green Tea is very good at removing toxins and cleansing the system. It can also regulate hunger and boost the metabolism.
  11. Take whole food supplements to correct any potential nutritional deficiencies.
  12. Calcium supplements can increase weight loss.
  13. Probiotics stimulate the metabolism, improve digestion, and cleanse the colon.
  14. Heavy Metal Cleansing removes toxic heavy metals from the system and improves general health.
  15. Always eat a large breakfast to kick-start the metabolism in the morning. Good examples of healthy breakfast foods include organic eggs, lean meat, fresh fruit, oatmeal, and wholemeal bread.
  16. Eat little and often to keep the metabolism high, but stick with organic whole foods. Ideally eat six times per day, even if you do not feel hungry.
  17. Always eat your dinner before 6pm—or 3 ½ hours before bedtime.
  18. Eat some protein immediately before bed—fish or lean meat. This helps prevent water retention and boost the metabolism.
  19. Hot peppers are great for reducing appetite and boosting the metabolism. Add hot peppers and salsa to your meals.
  20. Cinnamon regulates blood sugar and helps the body to release stored fat.
  21. Eat as much organic salad as you like, preferably with every meal. Raw salad produce stimulates digestion and adds fiber to the diet.
  22. Avoid unhealthy trans-fats. This includes hydrogenated or partially hydrogenated oils.
  23. Avoid high fructose corn syrup—it is full of sugar and will make you fat.
  24. Avoid artificial sweeteners—these also make you fat.
  25. Avoid nitrites—they cause food cravings and allergies.
  26. Avoid monosodium glutamate—it is highly addictive and makes you fat and depressed.
  27. Only eat organic meat and dairy products. Non-organic produce is full of artificial growth hormones and other drugs, all of which will upset the balance of your system and lead to weight gain and hormone imbalances.
  28. Avoid farm-raised fish, as they are full of toxins and chemicals.
  29. Do not microwave food—research has proven that microwaving food chemically alters the food and can cause weight gain and hormone imbalances.
  30. Avoid carbonated drinks where possible as they block calcium absorption and affect the digestive process. They are also typically full of sugar and chemicals.
  31. Avoid ice cold drinks as this slows down the metabolism.
  32. Stay away from junk foods!
  33. Add plenty of organic fiber to the diet to promote weight loss and reduce digestive problems such as constipation.
  34. If you need to sweeten your food, always use a natural sweetener such as stevia or raw organic honey.
  35. Try and include twenty minutes in a sauna as often as possible as this helps the body to sweat out toxins and impurities. Infrared saunas are preferable over conventional saunas, but both can be effective.
  36. Get some sun! Exposure to twenty minutes of sunlight per day is enough to reduce depression and food cravings. Sunlight can also stimulate the metabolism and help prevent weight gain.
  37. Make sure you have enough sleep. Scientific research has indicated that a lack of quality sleep is strongly linked to obesity. Deep sleep causes the body to release hormones that promote healing and keep the hypothalamus at the optimum level of activity.
  38. Take a vitamin E supplement to promote general health and wellbeing. However, avoid synthetic vitamin E supplements and only buy natural vitamin E products.
  39. Think carefully about what creams and lotions you are putting on your skin as many contain harsh chemicals and toxins. Such products are absorbed into the body and can negatively affect health and wellbeing. Where possible, only buy 100% organic creams and skin care products.
  40. Massage is very useful for improving circulation and helping to flush out toxins from the body. Consider trying Swedish, Shiatsu, Thai, or deep tissue massage. Two massages per week are recommended for optimum results.
  41. Yoga and Pilates are an excellent form of gentle exercise for anyone with weight issues. Both types of exercise promote flexibility and a strong core.
  42. Reduce your exposure to air conditioning as this is proven to lead to weight gain.
  43. Drink organic chamomile tea to reduce stress and relax the body.
  44. Try a liver cleanse product to flush out toxins and encourage this vital organ to work more effectively.
  45. Resistance training such as lifting weights can increase muscle mass and raise the metabolism.
  46. Avoid all over the counter drugs if possible.
